A fan steals a chunk of turf from a football ground.
Inside a labyrinth of scaffolding, Sonja Hornung plays out the meaning of this small-scale intervention. Part-community project, part-archive, GROUND uses photography and installation to separate the drive for ownership and control we layer over earth from the substance of earth itself.
In a world where community spaces are often structured by the interests of the powerful, GROUND quietly insists that we reconsider our relationship with common ground -- working from the ground up.
GROUND is growing. On Wednesdays and Saturdays Sonja Hornung will continue to build in the space.
